Sometimes nature does you a kindness. Tuesday as I left work I stepped out into a light snow. The snow was delicate and floated on the air like feathers. As I walked through it, tiny snowflakes touched my face and it felt like a thousand little kisses. The snow stuck in my hair and swirled around me. It is moments like this that I feel wedded to the beauty of nature.

The games this week on Majyk involve peach themes. The first look is made up of colours that came to mind when thinking about the morning (Sunshine, Iced Coffee, Morning blush). The second look is just a peach look.
Lisa was kind enough to send me some Iced Coffee and so I thought I would swatch it with similar colours that came out around the same time. I really love BE Long Island Iced Tea but don't really care for BE Blushing Bronze. Iced coffee is more like LIIT than blushing Bronze and I really like it. Iced Coffee is more sheer and does not have a smoky base. LIIT and IC have a similar golden bronze sparkle but LIIT also has a deeper base and so it is darker. Blushing Bronze has a dark base (and is therefore the darkest of the 3) but it also has a very pronounced rose tone.

This was my look for a very casual dinner party. I get a little nervous when I have to interact with other humans and I wasn't in the best mood. When I'm grumpy a smoky eye seems to fit my mood best, but I used purple because I thought it would make me feel better and it did. It was probably too dramatic for the party but I don't care. The party ended up being a good time so it all worked out.
As it turns out Schnauzer and In A Jam are very similar. The liner wasn't quite as bright in real life but I think if I do this look again I'll just use balck liner.

I was looking around Sephora.com because someone posted on BEA that the new Buxom pups are now available. You can get them here. From what I understand they are not in stores yet. I would love to see swatches but I think I want them all. I wish I had a Sephora near by so I could check them out. While I was looking around I noticed the Kat Von D is comming out with pigments--this should be interesting! See them here. They are not in stock yet but if anyone does get a look at them I would love to know what they are like. I wonder if they will be more or less like MAC pigments.
My friend Allison also started a make up blog yesterday so check it out! She will be posting looks and reviews and nail polish.
One of the inspiration themes this week on Majyk is "Blizzard" so that was what inspired this look. Although most of what you notice when everything is covered in snow is the intense whiteness, the white also creates a contrast between everything covered in snow and the dark trees. The snow also makes me notice the subtle golds and pinks in the sky more and sometimes in the morning or evening the snow has a slight blue cast.
And on a completely unrelated note I was in a coffee shop a few Fridays ago and Guns N' Roses Patience came on the radio and now I can't get it out of my head...dang. So I was listening to Guns N Roses greatest hits while doing this look--hopefully I don't look too sad.

Again with the food theme. I made cookies on Sunday and they were the inspiration for this look.
I also have to say that I love energy drink. I think it is my favorite new gloss from all the holiday stuff (It was in the Bright Now kit from Sephora). It has just a little bit of colour and it makes your lips look kind of juicy and glossy in a nice way. I think it looks kind of natural and sexy at the same time.

I get inspired by all kinds of strange things. Since it has been snowy this week I have been cooking more and so I guess it's not surprising that I would do a few food inspired looks. Today's look is inspired by last nights dinner. I made root vegetable latkes. I made them with shredded beets and carrots (and potatoes and onion). The red of the beet looked so pretty next to the bright orange carrots I decided to see if I could find some eye shadow that might capture the spirit of the vegetables. I have to go to work today so I couldn't get too crazy but I think this gets in the ball park. (It is kind of funny that most of the colours I used today have food names:)
