Sydney with a Green twist

This look turned out so well. It looked really good in real life. I love looks like this because while they include bright colour they do it in a very wearable way. I think you could wear this to work (unless you work in a really conservative office).

If you wanted to do this with all BE you could use Key Lime in place of Venom and blue moon in place of kiss of creativity.

Bare Escentuals: Destination Sydney

So much to report.

I got my Destination Sydney kit yesterday and I love it! But before I get to the kit I just want to mention the Tapered Crease Brush. I got the Tapered Crease Brush free with my order (there was a code) and when I got it I noticed that it was cut differently than my other tapered crease brush. The new one is stiffer and comes to a more pronounced point than my old one. I’m not sure if this is a change in design or if they are just inconsistent about how they cut the brushes but the new one is different. I used the new one for my look today and although it worked pretty well and I like the more pronounced point, it shed like crazy. Maybe if I wash it or use it a few more times the shedding will stop, I hope so.

On to the Destination Sydney! I love all the colours in this kit. The Bondi Beach (the blue) unlike anything I own. I love it! It is bright but dark, so you can use it as a lid colour or a liner. Sydney is a cream/yellow with a medium sheen (it has more sheen than soul but less than BFF). On the eye it does not look yellow, it is just a bright neutral—it look like really bright sunlight. Treasure Island is not new, it came out in the Cast Away kit, but it is really pretty as well. Treasure Island is a brown with some gold and a hint of green. I’m not sure swatches do it justices. Wet it has a pearly texture that I really love. This kit is a perfect summer look—it is cheerful and sunny. Even though Sydney is close to Soul I think the textural difference makes it worth having. I’m glad I got this kit. Hopefully they will make Sydney and Bondi Beach part of the permanent line.

The bag that comes with this kit is really cute too.

Bare Escentuals Insisde Scoop and a Pink look

I got the Bare Escentuals Inside Scoop kit from Sephora last week. It has a new eyeshadow High Shine Gold Medal and a new big and bright eye liner in Cork. High Shine Gold Medal is a very pretty light gold and Cork is an olive brown (I didn't actually swatch it so I'm just going by what it looks like). The kit also has a brush, a mini tube of Primetime for Eyes and the NEW volumizing Flawless mascara. The mascara is nice but I'm not sure it's that different than the regular flawless mascara. The mascara brush is a regular bristle brush (not the plastic kind). The formula seems only slightly thicker than the regular flawless definition. I really like the regular flawless definition mascara so of course I don't have anything bad to say about the new version--except that it doesn't seem more volumizing and I like the plastic brush better.
But since we are on the subject of mascara I started using my Buxom mascara again and I really really like it. I think it actullly curls my lashes a bit! I remember liking it when I first got it but obviously I forgot about it and stopped using it. So I wonder if I try the volumizing mascara again later I will have a different opinion. I like the Buxom mascara so much this time around that I added it to my Sephora (Fall) friends and family sale wish list (I know it's a little crazy to be making a list this early in the year but you guys probably do the same ;)

Summer

The "Majyk word" for this week on Majyk is Summer. So this look was in response to that challenge. I really love Long Island Iced Tea--it is one of my favorite new colours. It has a beautiful sheen and as you can see it looks like one colour on the lid and another in the crease. It is so pretty!

Bare Escentuals Cast Away Kit

The Cast Away kit is available now at Ulta. It comes with two eye shadows, Aztec Gold and Treasure Island, as well as a brown Big and Bright liner pencil and Flawless mascara in Black. I did not use the liner penicl for this look. I did some comparisons with other golds and greens so you can get an idea of what these colours look like. Aztec Gold has a coppery base with yellow gold sparkles. Treasure Island is a clay green brown with moderate goldish sparkle.

I like both the colours from this kit but I don't really like them together. There have been a few kits from bare escentuals recently that have nice colours but the colours just don't go well together.
