Buxom Stay There Mutt

Mutt is the last of the Buxom Stay There Palette. It is a great bronze that is perfect for summer. If you are in a hurry you could wear mutt alone and look put together.

I got the bright and beautiful kit (from Ulta) today so I'll be wearing that tomorrow.

High Shine Rose Gold and High Shine Bronzed

I didn't think I would like either of these high shine colours but I really love High Shine Rose Gold. It is a really pretty mid-tone pink with a metallic gold sheen, it reminds me a little bit of Cupcake. High Shine Bronzed is lighter than I thought it would be. It does not have a smoky base and can be applied in a rather sheer layer.

Nail Polish Strips and High Shine Copper

Last night I put on the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips. These are thin strips of “nail polish.” They come in many different colours and designs. I have been wanting to try these for a while but really wasn’t sure they would work. It took me about 40 minutes to do both hands. The strips were not that hard to apply and I was able to find strips that were a good fit for just about all of my nails (each packet has a set of strips that goes from small to large). The hardest part was getting the nail strip on the right place on my nail and then smoothing it out. On a few of my nails I have little overlaps but most of them went on without a hitch. The patterns are cute, although I wish the colours were a little more vivid. Once the strips are on you take off the excess and file the edge. There are 16 strips in the box. It would have been nice if there were 20 strips so that you could do your nails twice. I suppose if you are careful (and your nails are short) you could use one strip for two nails. I wish I had thought of that while I was doing my nails last night! Each box is about $8.50 so they are quite expensive for one application. I suppose the idea is that you get a manicure that you could only get at a salon and hence it is cheaper to use the strips than to get a manicure in a salon.

The strips have a saran wrap feel that I am still getting used to. I have only had them on for less than a day but they are holding up pretty well so far. I will let you know how long they last and what it is like to take them off. Overall what I do like about them is that there is no dry time which means less opportunity to mess them up!

Bare Escentuals: Golden and Gorgeous and Tarte lipstains

Golden and Gorgeous has been out for a few weeks. It is availible at Ulta. I wasn't sure I wanted this kit but after seeing a few pictures I decided to get it and I'm glad I did. Honey is a creamy warm golden nude. By itself it really looks nude, it looks more golden next to high shine copper. High shine copper is copper with lots of gold in it. I think that all the gold in it will make it a great lid colour. I didn't open the Bronze liner because I already have a couple of brown liners open so I just used Charbronze in the look instead of Bronze. I think this kit is a steal for $28 especially if you plan to use the Bronze liner and brush. This will be a good easy look for summer.

I also got a set of three Tarte Lipsurgence lip stains from Ulta. The set has one lip crayon in each of the three textures the lip stains come in (matte, sparkly, glossy). I have Charmed (glossy) and I love it. I wear it all the time. So I thought it would be good to try the other textures and to get a few more colours. I really like all the colours in this set. The matte shade, Envy, looks darker than most of the colours that I wear but I will be interested to see how it looks on. The sparkly shade, Pouty, looks right up my ally it is a bright pink with some sparkle. The third shade looks really dark. Moody (glossy) looks like it would be way too dark for me. But once I swatched it I changed my mind. I put it on yesterday and it looked really nice. The glossy texture can go on very sheer or you can make it darker by applying more. It kind of reminds me of Clinique's Black Honey (which I love). I will write more about these once I get a chance to wear them all. This set is a steal at $32. The lipstains are usually $24 (which is WAY to expensive for me, you can get them on sale for $16.80 but that is still a little pricy) so $32 for a set of 3 is really good.

Uninspired

Every once in a while I feel completely uninspired. That has been the case for the last two days. I try to think of good colour combinations but nothing seems right. So what I did today was to make my look around a colour that I haven't used in ages (gold dipped).

So this is what you get when nothing is coming to me.
