Snow Kisses

Sometimes nature does you a kindness. Tuesday as I left work I stepped out into a light snow. The snow was delicate and floated on the air like feathers. As I walked through it, tiny snowflakes touched my face and it felt like a thousand little kisses. The snow stuck in my hair and swirled around me. It is moments like this that I feel wedded to the beauty of nature.

A Lucky Penny and a Candy Cane

I decided to use Lucky penny on its own so you could get a real sense of what it looks like blended out. It is very smoky so I added some High shine glisten to bring back the sparkle.

The second look was inspired by a game--the idea was to do a Christmas candy look. Of course I thought of candy canes. It's more pink than red but I think it has the spirit of candy. I added some purple to tone it down a little because I had to meet with students yesterday.

Buxom Samantha's Smoky Eye Video

I did a look with the "Samantha's Smokey Eye" kit a while back but haven't played much with it until now. The new product in the kit is the Buxom eye shadow stick. I find it a bit hard to work with but I like the overall effect. Smokin' Pistol is a very dark black. By itself it is very very dramatic but you can easily soften the look by putting a shadow over it. I find it hard to get a really even layer of colour over my entire lid by blending, so I like to add another colour over it to even it out and soften the edges.

In the first look I used a purple shadow over Smokin' pistol and in the video I used Tinsel (blue).

Early Morning Sky

I get up really early to go exercise. A few days ago the sky looked so beautiful it seemed unreal. The stars were so bright in the inky blue background and the clouds were lit with beautiful colours. The sky inspired me to wear blue with a little twinkling white.

Kindness under brow,
Wearable blue dark lash into crease,

Pink Smoky Eye Video

A while ago I saw this cover of the New Yorker and thought that it would make a great smoky eye. Then today someone posted this tutorial by Bravon (a much loved Bare Escentuals makeup artist) where he goes step by step and explains how to do a pink smoky eye. So I decided to do a look based on these two sources of inspiration.

Bravon suggests Snowflake, a smoky purple/grey, Angel and the Big & Bright eye liner in black for his pink smoky eye but I wanted something a little more cranberry so I went with Snowflake, Popular and Rock Star.

If you wanted to use his colour choices I think Smoky Sequins or Amythest would be a nice crease colour. Neither of them are grey but they are both nice dark sparkly purples.

EYES:
TFSI, wr/cr,
Snowflake lash to brow,
Rock Star in crease and outer 1/4ish,
Popular lash to crease on inner 3/4,
Rock star wet lined on top,
Flawless Mascara.
