A fun colourful look (yellow, blue and green) with Bare Escentuals Lagoon

A friend sent me some Snowman dance colours in a trade, so many I will be trying them for quite a while (Thanks Sandia61!!). I like to try to make bright colours wearable. This may not be right for the office but you could easily pull this off for a night out.

You could do this look with all BE pretty easily. Just use Trophy Wife or lemon zinger for the yellow, Seashell for Iridescent green, Key lime for shamrock. If you don't have Lagoon you could always use French Navy. Shamrock reminds me of MAC landscape green and 12th night reminds me of MAC Chartruse. While I'm at it you could probably use MAC golden lemon for the yellow and MAC teal in place of electric.

Plum and Navy

A while back I saw someone wearing this purple shirt with a navy sweater and I really liked the way it looked. I did a look back then with a more purple/pink and navy and it turned out pretty well. In one of the games on Majyk this week we were supposed to copy a very plum look and this is what I settled on. It is not as plum as I imagined it would be but I still like how it turned out. I really like the combination of Buxom Veinna and Plumtini gloss. I also have to say that French Navy is one of my top five favorite liners.

Buxom Stay There Saint Bernard and Shih Tzu and an old dog

Before there were the Buxom Stay There pups Bare Escentuals did a kit with eye shadows named after dogs. It had Kiko (Leslie's dog), Dakota and two others that I can't remember. So I thought it would be fun to mix one of the old dogs with the new pups.

I used the crese brush from a set of Eco Tools brushes I just got. I also used the smudge brush to apply Energy in the outer corner. I like them so far but I'll have to use them for a while longer to really get a sense of how well they work.

Buxom Lipstick in Fresno and a Double Coat of Mascara

I finally got around to wearing the last colour set from Buxom City Slickers. I'm not sure I like Fresno all that much. It is very dark but it looks good with Brandi over it. I do however like the the other lipsticks and glosses in that set. I love the mini Buxom lipsticks. I wish I could get all the Buxom lipsticks in minis. I hope they keep doing these sets every year.

Since I did a really simple eye look because Fresno and Brandi create a really bold lip, I wanted to really play up my lashes. The lashes on one eye tend to curl or point in different directions (I think that must be the side I sleep on) and sometimes it can be hard to apply the Buxom mascara to that eye. So I decided to use the Flawless Definition Mascara first because it fans out my lashes and gets them all going the right direction and then I put on the Buxom Mascara and it worked out great! I really like how full and long my lashes look.

Coincidentally someone on the Bare Escentuals Addicts forum did the same thing but used the Flawless definition Volumizing mascara as the second coat. She said she really loved the result and others have tried it and liked it as well.  So if you have the flawless defintion mascara you might try it as the base coat and put another mascara over it.

Bare Escentuals Key West

This week on Majyk one of the games is to wear your favorite kit. I can never pick one favorite but Key West is one of my all time faves so I decided to go with it.

Buxom Stay There in Shih Tzu, Chihuahua, and Schnauzer

As you might know from my earlier posts about the Buxom Stay There shadows I'm a fan. I decided to get a few more colours during the sephora F&F sale.

I think you get really nice colour payoff from these shadows. They are very blendable, light and play well with BE mineral shadows. I wear primer under them and have had no trouble with creaseing or fading. I have been using the ELF eye shadow brush or a synthetic paint brush to apply them and both work really well.

I like the Stay There shadows because you could wear them alone with a little eye liner and be done. Or in some cases with no eye liner and just mascara. So they are perfect for traveling or when you are in a hurry. In addition you can use them as the base to build more complex looks.

So here are some swatches and looks with each of my new additons.

Shih Tzu and Chihuahua

Shanauzer

When you pack it on Schnauzer looks more purple (like I did in the lower swatch), but when you smudge it out you can really see the plum tones (like I did in the top swatch).

All the Buxom Stay There shadows I own:

I added High Shine Frost because it is similar to Chihuahua and some might want to compare them. I think Chihuahua is less bright than Frost and you can make it very sheer. Chihuahua also has a grey undertone that is more noticable on the eye. I like them both.

Shih Tzu

Bare Escentuals Mini Brush Collection

As far as I know this is Bare Escentuals first all synthetic brush collection. This set contains a brush roll with four pockets, a synthetic flawless face brush, a synthetic blush brush, a synthetic eye shadow brush and a synthetic smudge/liner brush. This set is ment to be a travel set and is therefore quite small. The brushes fit nicely into the roll and would be perfect to put into your purse or small makeup bag. The heads of the brushes are almost normal size. The flawless face brush and the blush brush seem smaller to me than the natural hair full size counter parts. The brushes are very very soft. I used the blush brush as an all over eye shadow brush and it worked well for that, although I think it would work just as well for blush or highlighter. I used the flawless face brush for blush and love the results. The eye shadow brush was great for a general application and for doing the crease. It is not as precise as the tapered crease brush in the crease but it does a good job. Since the brushes are so soft they do not irritate, scratch or in anyway hurt your eye lids. These would be great brushes for someone with sensitive skin. The liner/smudge brush has a nice point on it that makes it good for smudging or softening pencil liner, lining the lower lash line or applying liner dry. I haven't tried to wet line with it yet but I will give an update when I do.
