Layered Looks

I've been doing a lot of looks using a layering technique. What I do is take a mid-tone shade and blend it from the lash line into and above the crease on the outer two thirds of the lid. I use a fluffly brush like the BE tapered crease brush. Then I take a darker colour in a bright shade and blend it into the outer corner and a little way into the crease. You can do this with a pencil brush, or a short stubby crease brush, or even something like the heavenly smuge brush. This will give the look dimension and a smoky quality that I really like. Then you can take a lighter colour lash to crease on the inner 1/3 blending it gently into the midtone colour. 

I think you could use any colours for this. Purple glow is an example of this technique. I also used this same procedure for the two looks I'm posting here. I bet this would also be a really nice way to do a smoky eye. Use a mid-tone gray with black as the darker colour and white as the colour on the inner 1/3. I will do that next week.

LIPS: Aveda Foxglove lip liner with BE muffin top over it.

Purple Glow

Today's look is all purple. Grape has a neon quality in pictures but it is not so bold in person. (For some reason colours like Grape, blueberry, Turquoise sea and Dare photograph like that). I really liked playing with different tones of blue in the wave look and thought purple would be a good candidate for similar fun.

Ocean Wave

The inspiration image on Majyk this week is a big huge ocean wave. It has sea green patches and different shades of blue. It was great inspiration for this look.

Summer

The "Majyk word" for this week on Majyk is Summer. So this look was in response to that challenge. I really love Long Island Iced Tea--it is one of my favorite new colours. It has a beautiful sheen and as you can see it looks like one colour on the lid and another in the crease. It is so pretty!

Bare Freedom for a 5k

Last Saturday I ran a 5k. Since it started at 5pm I decided to do my makeup like I normally do and see if it would last. It was 90 degrees but my makeup made it pretty well.
I wanted to do something sunny and summer-y so I decided to wear the Bare Freedom kit. I didn't get this kit when it came out but then I saw it on sale over Christmas and had to get it. I'm really glad I did. The colours are very warm but they create a nice look for summer. Sun goddess didn't come in the kit.
