Buxom Lip Tarnish: Wardrobe Malfunction and Caught on Tape

I finally got my Buxom Lip Tarnish!! I have been wanting to try these since I first heard about them. I bought two, Wardrobe Malfunction (light pink) and Caught on Tape (darker pink). I was excited to try these because I thought they might be similar to Tarte’s Lipsurgence lip stains and they are to some degree. Tarte’s original lipsurgence product is very glossy in texture. I really like that formula. The Buxom Lip tarnish does not have the very glossy texture that the Tarte product has, instead it is more like a thick lip balm (think Burt’s bees lip balm). The Lip Tarnish does have a somewhat glossy appearance, more than a lipstick does. I think the lip tarnish applies smoothly and looks good on. It has a slight buxom tingle but not as strong as the buxom gloss. Caught on Tape is a vibrant pink that might be too much for some people but once you blot it looks more natural. Wardrobe Malfunction is a light pink and if you just apply it once it is sheer, I applied it 3 times for the pictures below.

The lip tarnish is supposed to be a stain. If you are expecting it to last all day looking like it did when you first applied it, you will be disappointed. However, it looked exactly like when I applied it for a few hours with a little drinking (sipping water) but after lunch it had faded a bit. I did have colour on my lips all day, it never completely disappeared, it just became much lighter by the end of the day. I like the fact that it left some colour on my lips all day.

As of now I like the lip tarnish and if they expand the colour selection I will probably buy a few more. I’m not sure I like it more than the buxom lipstick. I do love that it has a slight glossy-ness. I do think they need to make more colours. I think they leave more colour on my lips than the Tarte lipsurgence and I like that. Overall I like it so far but I’m not in love yet.

In the first picture I'm basically wearing the Bare Escentuals Sweet Escape Kit (nouveau, exotic tara, Buxom mascara and Eva buxom) minus the Eva buxom.

Bare Mineral Insider: Introducing Cheek Tint

I was really excited to get the Bare Minerals Insider: Introducing Cheek Tint kit, and I was not disappointed. I really love the colours in this kit. This kit includes:

Panache eye shadow—It looks peach in the jar but it has a pink iridescence and when you put it on your eye it looks pink. It very subtly changes colour in the light.

Smolder Liner Shadow—This is a sparkly purple. It reminds me a bit of Amethyst liner in colour. It has the same pink iridescence as panache as well as larger silver sparkles.

Flirt Cheek Tint—this is supposed to be a cheek stain in powder form. This is my first time wearing it so I will have to give you an update later on its staying power. In the jar it looks like a crazy fuchsia pink (sort of like fruit cocktail) but it is much softer when you put it on. You only need a few grains of the powder to get good colour. I took a picture of how much I used. I used that much on each cheek twice.

Cherry Bomb—this is a really pretty deep pink gloss. When I saw it in the tube I thought it would be more opaque than it actually is. It goes on quite sheer. I wish it was a little more opaque but I think it will look great over lipstick.

Double ended cheek and eye shadow brush

Overall I’m very pleased with this kit. I think the look is beautiful and perfect for any occasion.

Bare Minerals: Introducing Color Shift Eyecolor

Today I’m wearing the new Bare Minerals Insider: Introducing Color Shift Eyecolor kit. This is the third color shift eye shadow that Bare Escentuals has released. The first two were released earlier this year on QVC, they are Lilac & Grey and Gold & Green. This kit contains:

Gold & Blue colour shift eye shadow
Big and Bright liner in Black Sea
Flawless Definition Volumizing mascara (full size, it looks like a mini in the picture)
Boost Blush
Starfruit 100% Natural gloss
Double ended Color shift eye shadow brush

I was a little bit worried about the new colour shift eye shadow because many people on various forums have said that they had a hard time getting the gold to show up. People said that the slightest touch would make the eye shadow turn from gold to blue and some said it turned blue in the cap or before they could get it on their eye. I played with this a little on my hand first to see if I would be able to get swatches. As long as I patted the colour on I did not have a problem with it turning. Based on my experience with the other colour shift colours I always do the blending out first and then pat on the eye shadow where I want it to stay gold. If you don’t want the shadow to turn you cannot swipe it across your eye or even pat over the same place multiple times without reloading the brush. In order to get it to stay gold I gently picked up the shadow with the brush, tapped it, and then patted it on my lid. It does not make a thick even layer so I needed to go back and repeat the procedure 2-3 more times to get full coverage with the gold. Overall I really like the effect, I think this might be my favorite colour shifting eye shadow so far. The blue is very pretty and gets darker the more you buff it.

I also love Black Sea. It is a dark teal that looks much lighter on than it does in the pictures on the box. If you look carefully at the look I did you can see that when applied over the colour shift eye shadow black sea looks brighter than it does when applied alone, as I did along my lower lash line.

Boost is a repeat. It was in another kit earlier this year. However, I still love it.

Starfruit is a nice light pink gloss. I have others that are similar but nothing exactly like it.

Savor and Enjoy

These are the eye shadows from the 3rd perfect gift collection. I really like them. They are a nice sunny combo. I used a cool blush with this look and I think it actually looks okay. I'm wearing Tarte's Paradise lipgloss which is a peachy pink that looks pink in some combinations and peach in others. It is a really good gloss to wear when you are not sure if your look is warm or cool because it adapts to what you are wearing.

EYES:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance,
50/50 mix well rested/clear radince all over,
Enjoy dry lash to brow,
Savor dry in crease,

Foliage wet lined on top,
FDV Mascara and FD mascara.

Purples: Skinny Dip, Magnificent Pearl, Merlot

Skinny Dip is an old favorite but I haven't worn it in a while so I decided to do a look around it. Magnificent pearl was on my mind beacuse it is one of the free gift eye shadows that BE.com is giving away with any $60 order. Merolt is a colour I thought I didn't like but I think I like it in this combo. I put mascara on my lower lashes today, which I don't noramlly do, I'm not sure if I like it.

PTFE Brightening Opal,
Skinny Dip dry lash to brow,
Skinny Dip foiled lash to crease,
Magnificent pearl lash into crease on outer 1/3ish,
Merlot in T and blended into magnificent pearl,
Buxom 5" Stiletto lined on top,
Buxom mascara top and bottom.

Summer-y neutrals and a cool look for an evening out

The first look was inspired by a discussion on Bare Escentuals Addicts about captivate. Captivate will be in one of the new kits in the August 12th QVC show. So I decided to wear it.

The second look was what I wore last night. Floret looks really good with Las Vegas, I think.

I got finally ordered the colour shift kit and cheek tint kits from Sephora, they should be here wednesady and I can't wait! The new Buxom Lip Tarnish is now in stock online so I ordered wardrobe malfunction and caught on tape. I really can't wait to try those. So hopefully I will have a bunch of new stuff to swatch and wear next week.
