Not Exactly Drop Red Gorgeous

I saw Drop Red Gorgeous in a boutique when it first came out and I was really tempted to get it (the eye shadows are really pretty), but I am trying to save my money for the BE December F&F sale and for other kits I want more. So in an attempt to talk myself out of buying it (at least until it goes on sale) I decided to re-create the look with colours I already have.
Doing this look also gave me a chance to wear Tarte Swank without blotting it.

A little lilac

So I decided to try something a little lighter today. Skyline is such a funny colour. It looks blue when you really layer it or use it as a liner but it kind of has a lilac quality when used lightly.

EYES:

PTFE, wr/cr,
BFF lash to brow,
Skyline in crease and outer 1/4ish,
Buxom Smokin Pistol stick as liner with a little skyline over it to smooth it out,
Tarte mascara.

CHEEKS: Optimist blush
LIPS: French Pastry.

1970s and an Old Eye Shadow Foe

It is really hard for me to give away or sell BE eye shadows that don't work for me. There really aren't that many but I have come across a few that I just can't seem to make work or that I don't like (pure spice). But I think there is a good reason I am so reluctant to get rid of eye shadows I don't like and the reason is that some time down the road I will give the shadow another try and low and behold I'll like it! This has happened to me a few times and it happended again today with Bordeaux. I used to hate bordeaux because it is so matte and it always made me look weird but I think it looks pretty with BFF. So before you sell or give away an eye shadow you think you don't like just give it one more try.

The first look I'm posting was inspired by last weeks cover of the New Yorker. The cover had a drawing with orange lines over a cranberry purple and I thought it looked nice.

Bare Escentuals Girlfriend Collection

The Girlfriend collection was released a few weeks ago on QVC. Hopefully it will be in stores as well because it is really pretty. It is a simple classic look. Both of the shadows have a sheen so they are not quite matte. I like both colours a lot the darker colour is a blue/grey and the lighter colour is a light pink. I as usual did not use the liner pencil that came with it. The first time I wore this I wore french navy as the liner and I got lots of compliments. In the picture I am wearing foliage which looks more like the liner that it came with. I really love the blush that comes with this set. It is a nice soft pink. BE has been putting out some fantastic blushes lately!!
