Buxom Lip Tarnish: Wardrobe Malfunction and Caught on Tape

I finally got my Buxom Lip Tarnish!! I have been wanting to try these since I first heard about them. I bought two, Wardrobe Malfunction (light pink) and Caught on Tape (darker pink). I was excited to try these because I thought they might be similar to Tarte’s Lipsurgence lip stains and they are to some degree. Tarte’s original lipsurgence product is very glossy in texture. I really like that formula. The Buxom Lip tarnish does not have the very glossy texture that the Tarte product has, instead it is more like a thick lip balm (think Burt’s bees lip balm). The Lip Tarnish does have a somewhat glossy appearance, more than a lipstick does. I think the lip tarnish applies smoothly and looks good on. It has a slight buxom tingle but not as strong as the buxom gloss. Caught on Tape is a vibrant pink that might be too much for some people but once you blot it looks more natural. Wardrobe Malfunction is a light pink and if you just apply it once it is sheer, I applied it 3 times for the pictures below.

The lip tarnish is supposed to be a stain. If you are expecting it to last all day looking like it did when you first applied it, you will be disappointed. However, it looked exactly like when I applied it for a few hours with a little drinking (sipping water) but after lunch it had faded a bit. I did have colour on my lips all day, it never completely disappeared, it just became much lighter by the end of the day. I like the fact that it left some colour on my lips all day.

As of now I like the lip tarnish and if they expand the colour selection I will probably buy a few more. I’m not sure I like it more than the buxom lipstick. I do love that it has a slight glossy-ness. I do think they need to make more colours. I think they leave more colour on my lips than the Tarte lipsurgence and I like that. Overall I like it so far but I’m not in love yet.

In the first picture I'm basically wearing the Bare Escentuals Sweet Escape Kit (nouveau, exotic tara, Buxom mascara and Eva buxom) minus the Eva buxom.

High Shine Rose Gold and High Shine Bronzed

I didn't think I would like either of these high shine colours but I really love High Shine Rose Gold. It is a really pretty mid-tone pink with a metallic gold sheen, it reminds me a little bit of Cupcake. High Shine Bronzed is lighter than I thought it would be. It does not have a smoky base and can be applied in a rather sheer layer.

My Favorite New Bare Escentuals Blushes

I know I have said this a million times in the last few months but Bare Escentuals has released a bunch of really awesome blushes lately. To make my case I thought I would try to list all my new favorites. I have always liked BE blushes but I hadn’t really found that many that I wanted to use often (and I have a ton of BE blushes). So it has been nice to get a bunch that I can’t get enough of. So here they are in no particular order.

1. Pink Tourmaline—technically this is not brand new it was from the Jewel kit from Ulta two Christmases ago, but I love it and haven’t stopped wearing it since I got it.

2. Optimist—this was the first one that I was really impressed with. It is not quite peach or pink and it looks really good on. I think it actually makes my face look thinner if that’s possible.

3. Irresistible—this came out first in one of the Grand collections on QVC that I didn’t get, I got it in a more recent kit. I use this blush all the time now. It is the perfect light pink.

4. Pink Petal—this is also a blush that first came out in a grand collection that I didn’t get. I got it in the Shimmer and shine kit from Sephora. So pretty!

5. Boost—This is another pink-y peach that is similar to NARS orgasm but less sparkly and I like it better. I think orgasm might be a bit pinker too.

6. TTYL—I love this blush because it is neutral. You can wear it with anything and it looks good. This was the blush from the Girlfriend collection.

7. Miracle—this blush makes you look fresh and alive. I think it is the spring version of Compassion blush. It is brighter but still gives you that pretty doll face effect that I like.

8. Chuckle—another great pink. This is from the Face Fashion pure happiness kit.

9. Avant-Garden is another great pink that goes with just about anything.

Here are some swatches of all the blushes:

Some older blushes that I really like:

Purplish Pinks: Compassion, Heaven, Posh

Neutral: Sorbet, Desert Rose

Pink: Giddy Pink, Bliss, Azalea, Rose Radiance

Peach: Vintage Peach, Morning

What are some of your favorites?

Blues at Twilight

Do you ever notice all the shades of blue at twilight? I wish I could capture them all. But since I can’t I had to settle for creating this blue look layer by layer while listening to Camera Obscura “Biggest Bluest Hi-fi”  (great album—not a bad song on it). Today is going to be an adventure. When I went to the gym this morning the streets hadn’t been plowed so I was busting through snow banks and driving like a maniac—it was kind of fun.

EYES:

Primetime for eyes,
50/50 mix well rested/clear radaince all over,
Blush under brow,
Twilight in the crease and outer 1/3ish,
Denim blended into twilight on the outer 2/3,
Azure blended over Denim in the middle-ish,
Neptune lash to crease on the inner 1/3ish,
Marina wet lined on top, Twilight dry lined on bottom,
Tarte 4-in-1 mascara.

CHEEKS: TTYL blush
LIPS: Las Vegas Buxom with Muffin Top gloss over it.
