Lorac Pro 2 and Younique Fiber Lash mascara and a few other things

It has been a while since I've posted but I just got some new makeup that I'm excited to talk about.

The Lorac Pro 2 palette came out this month and I had to get it. I really like the Pro 1 palette and the Pro 2 has cooler colours in it, including a navy, so I had to get it. I've only used it a few times but the quality of the shadows is comparable to the first one, and the new colours are great. Both palettes are perfect for simple everyday looks and dramatic smoky eyes. Even though Pro 2 has a navy (it is actually not navy but a dark bright blue (if that makes sense) and a colour called Jade--they are not flashy bright colours. Jade is a dark smoky green. I would say this is a palette of colourful neutrals (by which I mean non-brown neutrals).

The Fibers

The second exciting product I recently tried is the Younique 3 D Fiber Lash Mascara. This mascara is sold through online parties on Facebook, and on their website. The system consists of transplanting gel and a separate tube of fibers. You can use the transplanting gel and the fibers alone or you can first put on your favorite mascara and, once it dries, put on the transplanting gel, the fibers and another coat of transplanting gel. It sounds like it might take a long time to apply but it really doesn't take me much longer than putting on two coats of mascara and really working it into my lashes. Here are some things I like about this product: It gives me long thick lashes, it is easy to use, it adds some curl to my lashes, it washes off easily with regular facial cleanser but it is water resistant (I wore it swimming and it did not run or give me raccoon eyes), it washes off completely and does not leave black gunk in my eyes like some of my regular mascara, it does not irritate my eyes. It is a bit pricey but I think it is worth it. I really love this system! It is as close to fake lashes as I can get.

I also finally bought some Mally makeup. Her makeup is too expensive for me to really buy it regularly, but I found a kit on sale that had mascara, blush, eye shadow and an eye liner. The mascara was good but not worth the price. What I liked most was the blush! I didn't think I would like it just looking at the colour but it is really wearable and pretty. The eye shadow is just okay. And the eye liner is also nice but not that much better than others I've tried. I'm glad i gave this brand a try just to get it out of my system.

The last new product I tried is the Bare Minerals 5 in 1 eye shadow in Blushing pink. I really like this eye shadow. It is a primer shadow but the colours are really soft and neutral. You could just wear this by itself with a little eye liner for a clean simple look.

Here are some looks with the Lorac Pro 2, Fiber lash and Bare Minerals 5 in 1 Cream shadow in Blushing pink.

EYES: all Pro 2
Snow under brow, Silver lash to crease, Jade on outer half and in crease, black liner, Younique fiber lash mascara.

Here is the same look with the Fiber Lash after swimming

A look with Pond

A friend on Facebook was looking at old Bare Escentuals kits and posted about how the Ponder kit was always a challenge to use. So here is my attempt to make Pond wearable. Pond is blue green and I think would look better with white or something like Faith. But here it is with envy (also in the kit).

Envy lash to brow, Pond lash into crease and then heavily on the lid, a little more envy over pond on the inner corner, BE Black liquid liner, and Live (I think this was in the kit too) dry along lower lash line.

A look with some Bare Minerals holiday colours I already have

I was looking at all the holiday kits last night and it inspired me to do a look with some of the colours in the new kits that I already have. I really miss using all my shadows!

EYES: Steam lash to brow,
Gem lash into crease on outer 1/2,
Mistletoe center of lid,
Lagoon wet lined on top, Gem dry lined on bottom,
Lash Domination mascara.

LIPS: Moxie in Dare Devil

Kat Von D Spellbinding Palette

I've been doing looks with this palette for a while now and I don't think I've come close to coming up with all the possible combinations. So I am going to post a bunch of looks that I hope will give you a good sense of the range of this palette.

The KVD Spellbinding palette is a mix of old and new colours. If you have all her other palettes chances are you already have some of these colours. I really like all the colours in this palette. Unlike most of her palettes there is no plain black, but the two dark colours--Dark throne and Oddfellow, are really great. You will be able to do some nice daytime work looks or more daring smoky or colourful looks. The palette is big so it might not be the best for travel, unless you have a big makeup bag.

I did not swatch the colours but I think you can see them pretty well in the looks.
EYES: UDPP,
KVD Precious lash to brow,
KVD Piaf lash to crease,
KVD Babe in crease and blended down,
KVD Holy Bible inner corner,
KVD Odfellow wet lined top and bottom,
mascara.

CHEEKS: Tarte dollface blush
LIPS: Tarte Lipsurgence in Energy

EYES all KVD: UD eden primer,
Galore lash to brow,
Queen in crease and outer corner,
Dark Throne wet lined on top dry on bottom,
IT cosmetics mascara.

CHEEKS: Tarte Darling blush
LIPs: Tarte Lipsurgence in Grateful

Instaglam lash to brow, Stupid autocorrect outer half and into crease, Dark Throne wet lined.

Countess under brow, Birdcage inner corner, Gunner outer half, 8bit in crease, dark throne outer corner, Tarte black liner, Tarte Dollface blush.

This would be a great look to wear to see Catching Fire!
Smile now under brow, Sunset blvd inner corner (this is a really sheer glittery gold), Fallen middle of lid, WTF outer corner and into crease, Cry Later outer corner, Bare Minerals liquid liner in Black.

Arcadia lash to brow, Wonderland outer half and into crease, Oddfellow wet lined on top, dry on bottom.

Holy Bible inner corner and under brow, Dark Throne lash into crease on outer 1/2, Bukowski middle of lid and blended into dark throne, Oddfellow wet lined on top.
You can really see how blue Bukowski is in the last picture.
