Video: Buxom Stay There Eye Shadow

I've gotten a lot of requests for a video with the new Buxom Shadows so I finally did one this morning. I felt like I had a lot to say but forgot some of it so if you have any questions just let me know.

Bare Escentuals Face Fashion: Urban Vibe

I love the little Face Fashion sets from bare escentuals and Urban Vibe fits in with the rest. This is a well coordinated set that creates a playful but sophisticated look. When I opened the box I thought Plumtini was very similar to Birthday Cake so I put them next to each other and they are quite different. Plumtini is darker and has more of a plum tone, but it does have the same iridescent sparkle that Birthday Cake has (which I love). Haute Pink is similar to Hot Shot but it is darker and has more of a purple base (hot shot is pinker). I think Smoky violet is similar to Queen Marie or black pearl but smoky violet is matte while the others are not. I really like Light Show and I think it will foil well. I'm not good with the liner pencils so I subed the teal liner for a mix of dare and caviar.

EYES:
KVD Primer,
Light Show lash to brow,
Smoky Violet in crease and outer 1/2ish,
Light show lash to crease on inner 1/2 blended into Smoky Violet,
Dare mixed with Caviar applied with a damp brush on upper lash line,
Flawless mascara.

Buxom Stay There in Saint Bernard and Laura Does London: A Look and Swatches

I'm so excited toady--I got a bunch of new stuff and had to try as much of it as possible! So I did some comparison swatches of the Buxom Laura Does London collection and I swatched Buxom Stay there in Saint Bernard.

I only got one stay there shadow because I don't really wear cream shadows all that often. But my first impression is that I will be wearing the buxom shadow a lot! It has a nice mousse texture that blends easily. It is not really sparkly but it does have some sparkle. Saint Bernard is a beautiful green/blue. It definitly registers more green than blue. It is bright but dark enough to wear as a crease colour. I applied it with my finger in the swatch, then when I did my eyes I used a synthetic brush on one eye and a natural hair brush on the other. The colour payoff was very similar and it washed out of both brushes easily. If I were going to use it in the crease or if I wanted a thinner layer of colour I would use the natural hair brush. Overall my first impression of Stay There is very positive.

Here are the brushes I used and a few pictures of Saint Bernard:

I also got the Laura Does London collection. The kit has a Buxom Lipstick in London and a Buxom Gloss in Laura. London is very pale, pearly, neutral to cool pink. Laura is hot pink and it has a creamy look too it. So while it is not a full coverage buxom it is more opaque than many of the other sheer buxoms. Over London it looks very opaque. I love both colours. I did some comparison swatches with other buxoms people have suggested these are similar to.

VIVID

Since I did a look with limelight I thought I would do a look with vivid. I really like the colour of vivid but I did have some trouble foiling it. It got kind of splotchy even when I made the foiling mixture thicker. So to fix it I used a dry brush with a little bit of vivid on it to even things out. I think it worked out okay.

EYES:
TFSI, wr/cr,
Cultured Pearl lash to brow,
Vivid dry in the crease,

In the Limelight again

I really wanted to do an all green look with limelight. I like the way this came out. Doing a monocromatic look with both light and dark colours really creates a nice kind of fancy effect.

TFSI, wr/cr,
Limelight lash to brow,
Key Lime lash into and above crease on outer 1/2,
Oz lash into crease on outer 1/4,
Limelight more heavily lash to crease on inner 1/3ish,

Buxom mascara.

Bare Escentuals: Big Bright & Bold Collection

Bare escentuals put out a new little collection with some great colours about a week ago: Big Bright & Bold. The colours are limelight, a light green with a beautiful sheen and Vivid a bright purple!! I love them both. There is also a Big and Bright liner pencil in Indigo in this kit but I haven't used it. It also comes with the small tapered shadow brush. Overall it is a really great collection and it was about $24 with tax and shipping from QVC. I think this kit will be in boutiques and probably other places because it came in a box:
When new kits come out people inevitably start comparing the new colours to the old colours. I think both colours are unlike anything I have already. I decided to do a bunch of swatches so you can get a feel for how these colours compare with others you might already have. I have pictures in the jar and swatched. All swatches are dry.

A few looks from this week

Sorry I haven't posted new looks in a while. I got way behind and I haven't been feeling all that inspired this week. I am going to try to select the best from the last two weeks.

I ordered 3 of the new lipsticks and the new fruit cocktail gloss during the BE sale. I like all four colours but my favorites are Rock Candy and the fruit cocktail gloss. I am wearing some of the lipsticks in these looks.

The first look is a quintessential summer look it seems to pop up everywhere as soon as it gets warm.

EYES:
TFSI,wr/cr,
Butterfly under brow,
Congac Diamond in and above crease and outer 1/4ish,
Brass Roots lash to crease,
Retro wet lined on top,
Stiletto curves mascara.

CHEEKS: Papaya with a little Mary Louminizer.
LIPS: Apricot Quick Stick

I bought the Ready to Wear set during the BE sale and I'm not sure why. I don't usually wear these sorts of colours but I think it creates a professional look.

EYES:
TFSI,wr/cr,
SF Linen all over,
SF Tweed lash into and above crease,
SF Velour in crease and wet lined on top,
mascara.

CHEEKS: Posh blush
LIPS: Rock Candy

This look is really simple to do. I love layering sparkly colours over matte colours because it looks fancy but it only takes a few minutes. The High Shine colours are perfect candidates for this technique.

EYES:

TFSI, wr/cr,
Pacific lash into and above crease,
HS Gold Medal lash to crease over pacific,
KVD Lucifer liner,
Volumizing Flawless.

CHEEKS: Precious Pearl
LIPS: Gelato
