A look with Pond

A friend on Facebook was looking at old Bare Escentuals kits and posted about how the Ponder kit was always a challenge to use. So here is my attempt to make Pond wearable. Pond is blue green and I think would look better with white or something like Faith. But here it is with envy (also in the kit).

Envy lash to brow, Pond lash into crease and then heavily on the lid, a little more envy over pond on the inner corner, BE Black liquid liner, and Live (I think this was in the kit too) dry along lower lash line.

A look with some Bare Minerals holiday colours I already have

I was looking at all the holiday kits last night and it inspired me to do a look with some of the colours in the new kits that I already have. I really miss using all my shadows!

EYES: Steam lash to brow,
Gem lash into crease on outer 1/2,
Mistletoe center of lid,
Lagoon wet lined on top, Gem dry lined on bottom,
Lash Domination mascara.

LIPS: Moxie in Dare Devil

Kat Von D Spellbinding Palette

I've been doing looks with this palette for a while now and I don't think I've come close to coming up with all the possible combinations. So I am going to post a bunch of looks that I hope will give you a good sense of the range of this palette.

The KVD Spellbinding palette is a mix of old and new colours. If you have all her other palettes chances are you already have some of these colours. I really like all the colours in this palette. Unlike most of her palettes there is no plain black, but the two dark colours--Dark throne and Oddfellow, are really great. You will be able to do some nice daytime work looks or more daring smoky or colourful looks. The palette is big so it might not be the best for travel, unless you have a big makeup bag.

I did not swatch the colours but I think you can see them pretty well in the looks.
EYES: UDPP,
KVD Precious lash to brow,
KVD Piaf lash to crease,
KVD Babe in crease and blended down,
KVD Holy Bible inner corner,
KVD Odfellow wet lined top and bottom,
mascara.

CHEEKS: Tarte dollface blush
LIPS: Tarte Lipsurgence in Energy

EYES all KVD: UD eden primer,
Galore lash to brow,
Queen in crease and outer corner,
Dark Throne wet lined on top dry on bottom,
IT cosmetics mascara.

CHEEKS: Tarte Darling blush
LIPs: Tarte Lipsurgence in Grateful

Instaglam lash to brow, Stupid autocorrect outer half and into crease, Dark Throne wet lined.

Countess under brow, Birdcage inner corner, Gunner outer half, 8bit in crease, dark throne outer corner, Tarte black liner, Tarte Dollface blush.

This would be a great look to wear to see Catching Fire!
Smile now under brow, Sunset blvd inner corner (this is a really sheer glittery gold), Fallen middle of lid, WTF outer corner and into crease, Cry Later outer corner, Bare Minerals liquid liner in Black.

Arcadia lash to brow, Wonderland outer half and into crease, Oddfellow wet lined on top, dry on bottom.

Holy Bible inner corner and under brow, Dark Throne lash into crease on outer 1/2, Bukowski middle of lid and blended into dark throne, Oddfellow wet lined on top.
You can really see how blue Bukowski is in the last picture.

Bare Minerals Glamour Now, November TSV 2013

After reading a few reviews of this kit I decided to get it. I can't say that I was really excited about it but I wanted to try the mascara and the double ended eyeliner. When I saw the eye shadow colours online I thought they looked kind of blah, and my opinion did not improve when I saw them in person and swatched them on my hand. However, when I put them on today I was really impressed. These colours, though subtle, create a really beautiful look! I love how they blend really well into each other. The result is a sophisticated look that would be great for daytime and also nice for a night out.

I also really like the double ended liner that comes in this kit. It is a black liquid liner on one end and a pencil liner on the other (the pencil glides on really easily). I have tried a few liquid liners and I've had problems with all of them. The Lorac one I tried made my eyes itch and water which led to the eye shadow on my inner corner getting messed up. I also tried the physician's formula marker and it is too stiff, you really have to work hard to get a smooth looking line (so it doesn't really save me any time). But the liquid liner end of this duo does not make my eyes water and it goes on very smoothly and easily. I got a nice smooth line in no time. I think get this kit on A-D just for this liner. I hope they make a purple one!!

The blush and luminizer are both pretty and very wearable. I like that the luminzer is a pinkish nude.

The Marvelous Moxie lipgloss is very sheer and very glossy. I love the way it makes my lips look. Although it looks very peachy in the tube it is very sheer on your lips. It has a slight peppermint scent and it tingles like a buxom lipgloss--that was surprising to me because I thought the Moxie lipgloss did not have any tingle.

The mascara is just okay. I like the big lashes I ended up with, but I felt I had to work really hard to get them. If you turn the brush you can get really nice separation, but it is also easy to work the brush through your lashes and have them stick together in weird ways and then you have to go back and carefully straiten them out again.

I didn't try the mineral veil because I already have one open, but I suspect I will like it because the regular brightening pearl MV is one of my faves.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this kit. There are enough really great pieces in the kit for me to keep it and to stay on the A-D plan.

I followed the directions in the insert for the look.

Celebrate lash to brow, Cheers on outer half, Ball gown inner half, Stilettos in crease and outer corner, liquid liner on top, brown liner on lower lash line, Lash domination mascara.
